New calculation for Capital Gains Tax in France

To earn always more income, the French Chamber of deputies have voted a new assessment for Capital Gains Tax.
The fixed allowance of 1.000 euros disappear on 19 September 2011.
As from 1st February 2012, the allowance for years of owning has changed. After the end of January, it is possible to reduce the capital gains tax of:
2% for each year between the 6th and 17th
4% for each year between the 18th and 24th
8% for each year between the 25th and 30th
By consequence, a capital gains made on a property owned for more than 30 years, will benefit from an 100% allowance. It will be totaly exempted.

New secondary residence tax in France

To earn always more income, the French government decided today to propose to the chamber of deputies to approve a new law. As Sarkozy’s government have majority in both chambers, it won't be surprising if this law is applied on the 1st January 2012.
This tax, without a name for the moment, will be applied on all secondary residences of non-residents. The amount will be 20% of the rental value (rental value will be estimated by French tax administration).
The French government is expecting 176 millions euros income with this new tax.
